From Yellowstone to Home: The Remarkable 900-Mile Journey of a Lost Cat
Think you know your animal companions pretty well? Think again! Here's a reminder of the importance of microchipping your pets!
A California cat named Rayne Beau is back with his family following a wild two-month journey that started when he strayed from his family while they were camping in Yellowstone National Park. Somehow, this determined kitty managed to get himself back nearly 900 miles on his own.
An Unexpected Journey
Benny and Susanne Anguiano, the owners of Rayne Beau, loved camping with their cats. So, bringing them along on their June trip to Yellowstone seemed like a no-brainer. But on one of the nights, Rayne Beau was spooked and ran into the wilderness.
They spent the remaining days of their holiday in search of him but, of course, found him nowhere, and so Anguianos were returned to their home dejected without Rayne Beau. However, as they departed from the park, there appeared a double rainbow. Well, Susanne started looking for him once more for the name Rayne Beau was inspired by a rainbow!
It has been two months since Rayne Beau had set off hundreds of miles on his own to get to the shelter in Roseville, California. He even made it through an encounter without meeting a coyote on his way, according to Benny Anguiano.
Microchipping Power
Only with the microchip that could let the shelter contact the Anguianos at once was Rayne Beau able to be brought home. Susanne said, "Microchip your cat or pet, and register the chip online. We'd have never gotten him back without it."
This way, it is fast, cost-effective, and guarantees returning your lost pet. This means that microchipped cats are returned to their owners 20 times more often than those without the microchip. What's more, if your pet already bears a chip, never forget to update the information at hand if you move to another address or change your number.
This is a very inspiring case about the bond between pets and their humans or the significance of little planning in keeping our furry friends safe.
